The haunting images of pale lifeless people lining the waiting areas in the grey sterile hospital rooms haunted my thoughts for the next several days. Could there really be a viral war?
Not knowing where to begin, I typed in the words “alternative medicine” on the web browser’s search engines. Within seconds, the white screen flooded with blue headlines describing everything from herbal therapy and energy medicine, to homeopathy and Chinese medicine.
My attention stopped at something called Homeobotanical Medicine which was a combination of two theories, herbal medicine and homeopathy. Homeobotanical remedies were energized tinctures of herbs. Each herb that was traditionally used to relieve certain symptoms contained within it not only healing chemicals, it also held a hidden energetic power or essence. It was this energetic essence that empowered the healing substance within the herb.
I signed up for a class and within two weeks a big brown box of books arrived at my front door.
What was in the box that made Homeobotanical Medicine different than what the pediatrician or family doctor would tell me? What are energized herbs, and how are they different than the pink bubblegum flavored amoxicillin that I normally gave Cody when he didn’t feel well?
I tore open the box and pulled out two 1 inch beige binders filled with pages of hand-drawn illustrations and simply formatted text. Some of the pages looked like copies of copies with fading disintegrating typefaces that left me with the impression that I was looking into something ancient and sacred.
Page 1 of the first manual read, “This course not like anything you have done before. The emphasis is on understanding and not on book learning or memory. . .”
The first chapter began with brief examples of what we could look forward to by learning this new method of healing. Little Carey was plagued by coughing spells every night of his life. When his mother gave him just four drops of Homeobotanical tincture the coughing stopped and never returned. Three drops resolved a woman’s bouts of irritability that was posing a threat to her marriage. An infant was given 1 drop and his colic was gone instantly.
What could make these drops of tincture work so well? Would they work for everyone? Would they work for us? Would they work for me?
Reading through the definitions pulled my attention. “Dynamic- dynamis =power. In this context, dynamic means potentiated or enhanced by vibrational energy.”
Power? Vibrational energy?
“Potentized- Therapeutically enhanced by the Homeopathic process of firmly pounding a liquid remedy on a resilient surface.”
What was the Homeopathic process?
It was time to go back to work. I put away my books and couldn’t stop thinking about this new information. The idea of vibrational energy intrigued me. I felt as if a flurry of lights turned on in my head with an uncanny kind of recognition and gave me an unexplainable sense of peace.
A gentle glow of sunshine streamed past the green leafy trees just outside the window. A long ago memory was stirring in my mind.
30 years ago I was walking through the park at dinner break on a cool summer night. There was something in the trees I never saw before. I could feel something different, something like an electric current running up through the grey brown bark of tree trunks up through the branches and into the deep green leaves. It was sparkling, glittering electric energy running through the trees and into the crisp cool air that surrounded them. I could feel and sense the invisible current zooming through the veins of the branches from the roots to the leaves. Vibrant popping electricity I could see, hear and feel. I had never seen or felt energy like that before. I felt awake and filled with new life. In a mysterious unexplainable way the trees and I were connected. We shared the same Earth and the sky and the air that we breathe. Without the trees there would be no air to breathe. Without light there would be no life. We are all connected from the earth to the sky and the heavens, and the moon and the planets within.
As the memory faded I began to remember something I had known before from deep within my soul. Was this the same energy in the herbs that heals?
Two days later my newfound knowledge was put to the test when Cody came home from school.
“Mommy I don’t feel so good,” said Cody.
I could tell by the pale color of his complexion that this was not a little boy’s excuse to stay home from school. Cody’s eyes were watery and droopy and the normal sparkle was dimmed just a bit.I touched his forehead lightly with my fingers to feel the heat radiating from his skin. Within the hour my little 5 year old son started vomiting and couldn’t stop. Watching his small body shake and heave was horrifying.
I called the doctor’s office to make an appointment.
“We’re booked right now. We can see him in three days,” said the voice on the phone.
“Three days? He’s vomiting every 20 minutes. He can’t even hold water down!” I pleaded.
“What can I do for him now?”
“Give him Jello and fluids,” answered the voice. “Don’t let him get dehydrated.”
“Jello and fluids? He can’t even hold down a sip of water. How am I supposed to keep him hydrated?” I pleaded.
“I’m sorry,” said the voice. “But there is nothing else we can do. We will see you in three days.”
I called my local homeopathic doctor to see if they could see him.
“I’m sorry. We are booked and won’t be able to see him until Friday,” said the nurse.
“What am I supposed to do in the mean time?” I pleaded again.
“Give him Jello, juice and water,” said the voice.
“Jello? Juice? Water? He can’t even hold water down!” I was almost shouting into the phone by then. Didn’t the nurse even hear me? What was I supposed to do? What could I do?
It pained my heart to see Cody’s teary eyes and his little body shaking and heaving with every sip of water or juice. I had to do something.
An idea suddenly lit my mind, “We have to do something, I’m studying alternative healing maybe there’s an answer in one of my books.”
By then I had acquired a small library of laymen’s books on the subject of homeopathy. I grabbed a book off the shelf and looked up nausea. Ipecacuanha described his symptoms exactly.
“I’m not going to watch you suffer. Maybe this will work. Let’s go to the health food store.”
I picked up my son and buckled him up in the carseat then drove to the local health food store. On a shelf filled with hundreds of small blue vials of homeopathic remedies was a small blue vial of Ipecacuanha.
“Let’s try these,” I said.
We hurried through the store and paid for the pills and took our seats in the car.
I handed Cody three little white pellets and said, “Hold these under your tongue.”
“But mommy! I don’t want to throw up again!” Cody pleaded.
“I’ll take them first,” I said and placed three little pellets under my tongue.
Surprisingly, the little pills were sweet and pleasant.
“They’re sweet,” I said, “almost like candy. You try them.”
Cody frowned for a moment. His eyes were focused on the pills as if they might bite him. He opened his mouth.
“Put these under your tongue,” I instructed, then placed the little pills in his mouth.
“I hope I don’t throw up again,” said Cody. He frowned for a brief moment and squished up his face in an expression of concern.
We sat there together for a few minutes. Cody’s frown softened then turned into a smile.
“Mommy I think I’m OK,” said Cody. “I don’t feel like I have to throw up any more.”
The vomiting never returned.
By the time we got home Cody’s fever dropped from 101 to 96.8 degrees fahrenheit and he was back to his happy little self. The results were almost instant. Homeopathy worked when nothing else we tried gave any sign of relief. I had to know more.
I wanted to understand what made the little white pills of homeopathy so successful. How could three tiny round pellets get results within 20 minutes when the nurse on the phone gave no solution to stop the constant raging vomiting spell that was raging through my little son’s body?
What was in the little white pills that made them so effective? We got results almost instantly and Cody’s state of health was restored within 24 hours. All of his classmates who were effected by the same virus were out for 2 weeks. Cody was well and smiling again by morning.
The desire to find answers that burned in my gut led me to delve into some fascinating information and what I found was far beyond what I ever expected. I learned to look where I never dared to look before into a world of energy before form.
In order to fully understand how homeopathy worked I needed to look deeper beyond the physical form and the substance of the little white pill, into the invisible power that creates all form. The early homeopaths referred to that invisible power as the spiritual vital force.
Researching the spiritual vital force opened my mind and expanded my vision in a way that enabled me to look into the unseen world of energy. When I peeked into the energetic landscape I was looking into the world of the creation before the form.
“Energy before form” was a new concept to me. Like my parents and most of the people in my life who raised me and trained me, I believed that the only things that were real were things I could see with my eyes, hear with my ears and feel with the touch of my fingers.
As I learned more about the unseen world of energy I began to see that when it comes to the energetic mechanics behind creation, science and biblical scriptures are talking about the same thing. I can now see that the world of energy and the forces that empower that world, are science’s way of revealing the unseen power of the spiritual world and the place called heaven.
I began to see that all living things of our dear planet Earth are composed of minute particles of energy. These particles of energy are so tiny that they cannot be seen by the human eye. Energy particles have a spin and a vibrational frequency. They spin at a certain speed. The speed of the spin determines their designated frequency.
All living particles have an energetic field. Each energetic field has unique frequency and just like a the field that surrounds a magnet, the field attracts and repels.
As I was studying these concepts something lit up in my heart and my head and somehow lead me to a new empowering love for God.
I was working with a Macy, a certified homeopath and taking her classes on the basics of homeopathy. It was through Macy’s connections that I was finally able to find the correct study resources, a Materia Medica and Repertoire which are required reference books for the study and application of homeopathy. The two reference books described each remedy in detail, and the symptoms it is applied to. The Repertoire detailed what symptom each remedy addressed.
After studying the Materia Medica and Repertoire for several months, somehow my brain was able to absorb the information. When I set out to deal with a certain set of symptoms, a remedy intuitively popped into my mind.
Using these books and reading about the remedies I was able to apply what I learned to the many symptoms of physical illness, whether it be a flu, an upset stomach or a bee sting.
“What do you have for a bee sting?” Pete asked. He held out his puffy red index finger to show me.
“That’s apis” I said and sent a tube of apis for him to try.
“That stuff really worked! The pain and swelling went away within an hour.,” he said when I saw him the following day.
“I don’t know what you gave me, but I feel like a million bucks!” said Chris, a friend who took my suggestion and took a few doses of occillotosinum for flu symptoms.
Homeopathy got results when we found the correct remedy.
One evening about 3 months into the class, I was sitting in her class room, the conference room at The Alternative Wellness Complex. The walls of the pale green room were lined with bookshelves and tables. Several stacks of books and un-filed paper tumbled off the shelves. Six women sat in the chairs that were sporadically placed around the room.
Macy was standing in the front of the room with an easel and a large demonstration tablet. She quickly scribbled a stick-man, then drew seven coinciding circles around the man.
She pointed to the circles and said, “There is more to the human being then the body. The human body is embedded within a set of seven invisible energy bodies. It is within these energy bodies that health or healing begins. This is what I we are treating when we work with homeopathy.”
Macy paused for a moment, glanced around the classroom then said, “Sometimes we find holes or cuts in the person’s energy bodies that cannot be repaired. ”
“Are you saying that some illnesses cannot be cured?” I asked.
“Yes,” said Macy.
“Not even with homeopathy?” I asked.
“No,” said Macy, “not even with homeopathy.”
Macy’s answer was not what I wanted to hear. Homeopathy had helped my family in so many ways. I couldn’t believe what Macy was telling us and began to wonder, is it possible that the what we know about homeopathy is incomplete? The foundational homeopath Dr. Hahnamman died before he completed his research. It was the same with Kent. What if they found the answers and never documented their findings?
In December 2000 my system was infested with an extremely strong flu virus. My entire body broke out into a burning cold fever. Every part of my body was achey, hot and heavy. I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t sleep and when I did finally fall to sleep my mind was haunted with strange and erie nightmares.
The homeopathic remedies I knew would work, just didn’t.
Where did I go wrong? Why weren’t the remedies working?
The fever, chills and sleepless nights lasted for two weeks. The congestion and exhaustion lasted for several months.
“What am I doing wrong? Is there a remedy that will help?” I asked Macy over the phone.
Her answer was not what I expected, “I got the same flu. It’s a really strong strain of flu. I ended up having to take a dose of antibiotics just to give my system a kickstart.”
“What?” I wondered. My mind was racing, “Macy the homeopath that I trusted didn’t heal her own self through the things she is teaching?”
It took my system 4 weeks to get better, and 3 months later my system still didn’t have the energy that it once had. I couldn’t enjoy my 5 mile morning run without suffering from complete exhaustion.
I went back to Macy to see if she had any suggestions that might help to restore my energy.
The conversation that took place that day left me wondering about the validity of all that I had studied with Macy.
Macy’s office was an 8’ x 8’ square windowless room with sterile white walls and dark brown carpet .I sat in the padded grey office chair with a notebook open on my lap.
Macy sat across the desk and glanced down at the notebook. The gaze of her eyes stuck for a moment.
She was staring at a scribbled sketch on the open page.
“That image in your notebook reminds me of something. According to the psychic’s sources, this is illustrating the soul’s relationship to the body. “
I sat there quietly and listened.
“Did I ever tell you about the theory of our origins?” Macy asked.
“No I don’t think so,” I said, leaning closer.
“According to the psychic’s sources, more than 40,000 years ago a group of us were traveling in a spaceship and crashed here on Earth.”
“What?” I wondered silently.
I kept my mouth shut and listened.
“Somehow we mingled with the race that existed here and got mixed in with them. Now 40,000 years later we lost contact with the members of the original group. We are searching for the original souls who were part of that group”
Macy paused for a moment then asked, “Do you think this sounds crazy?”
Not knowing exactly how to respond I said, “Well, not really. It does sound a little odd, but how can we possibly know what happened 40,000 years ago? What if the history books in print today are only telling us part of the story? What if even the Bible is only telling part of the story? The Bible has been translated so many times. What if the language barriers and differences in languages created a misinterpretation or loss in translation? I am not against Christianity at all. I am not against the churches. My son goes to a Christian school. But what if something was lost in translation? What if there is more?”
When I left Macy’s office a sickening feeling was growling in my gut. Was Macy telling me she’s an alien?
We never even addressed the state of physical weakness left behind after the flu.
Hearing Macy’s words, “I ended up taking a dose of antibiotics just to give my system a kick start.” stunned me. And the other part of her message about spaceships?
Macy was the homeopath that I trusted. She was the teacher who taught me what I knew. When I read between the lines of what she just said I couldn’t help but wonder if something was missing.
According to what I learned, the system of homeopathy was developed in the 1800’s and the foundational doctors who developed it were still researching when they died. Was the system of homeopathy incomplete? What was missing?
